When I first started thinking about starting my business and the branding that would go along with it, the words I brainstormed were happy, joyful, love, fun, and genuine. When I think about the images that I want to create for myself and my clients, they inspire joy in the viewer. So of course when I saw ClickinMoms was running a class called Capturing Joy and the instructor was Lisa Tichané (one of my all-time favorite family photographers), I knew I had to sign up!
I wasn’t too sure what to expect because I wasn’t sure how much could actually be taught about how to capture joyful images. But the class was amazing! I learned so much! We learned the technical aspects of how to capture joyful moments (lenses, shutter speed, etc.) and more importantly, we learned a ton of practical tips for preparing for sessions and creating joyful moments. I’m still going back through the materials and applying what I’ve learned. I imagine I’ll be doing that for a long time to come! And it was just a lot of fun! Lisa was such a great instructor; and the TA’s were very supportive too. The constructive criticism I received was always helpful and always left you feeling good about yourself and your work.
So, without further ado, here are a sampling of the images I created during this amazing course! (By the way, the next run of Capturing Joy starts soon. If you’re interested, you can sign up for the course here. I’ll be an alumni helper this time around and I can’t wait for another joyful month! 🙂
