Some friends and I are writing letters to our children in a monthly blog circle! After you read mine, click here to check out my friend Tiffany’s letter next. If you click through each letter, you’ll eventually find yourself right back here!
Hey there buddy! We have had a super busy month. Between Easter, birthday parties, soccer games, ball games, and just going outside to play in the warm, spring weather, it’s been non-stop. One of the best things about being a parent is watching you learn and change. Last year at this time, I had to be with you like white on rice. You were still a little unsteady on your feet and you got into everything that you shouldn’t. This year it’s so different. You are so much more independent now. And you’re learning new things faster than I can keep up with!
Just the other day in the bathtub you started pointing to the numbers on the fish and telling me what they were. I had no idea that you could recognize those numbers! And that’s the downside of parenting the second child. With Emily, I didn’t really have any other distractions. I knew immediately when she learned to do something new. But our days move so fast now and I have so many distractions, that sometimes I miss those milestones that you’re reaching and when I see them it’s a surprise to me. But this is a good reminder to slow down and just be present with you.
You have the sweetest and funniest little personality! You crack us up on a regular basis! All I have to do is look at the funny things you do and the silly faces you make, and I smile – big! Just look at these pictures – you’re a total ham! You always know how to put a smile on my face. We still had some of those 2-year-old moments this month, but they were fewer (maybe because we were so busy?). Potty training is still a no-go. And you absolutely love playing with all your cousins, and your sister of course! Emily has been going to school full days since spring break and I know you miss her. But I also know it’s a good thing for you to get some attention all to yourself. Before long summer will be here and you can drive each other (and mommy and daddy) nuts all day long again! 😉
I love you so much!
