Some friends and I are writing letters to our children in a monthly blog circle! After you read mine, click here to check out my friend Michelle’s letter next. If you click through each letter, you’ll eventually find yourself right back here!
Well, hello there, 3-year-old! How is it that you are 3 already? Time is flying, and it doesn’t help when things have been SO busy around here. We came home from a short vacation to find out our home finally rented and it was time for us to move out. Unfortunately for you, your birthday party had to be rescheduled due to all the packing and moving madness. But you children have been real troopers throughout the whole process. We’re living with Nai Nai and Apah temporarily while we save up and search for our new home.
Since the last time I wrote to you, you learned how to use the potty!!! Hooray!!! I think it was probably a weekend in late May or early June. We had nothing planned, and I took the opportunity to stay home all weekend with you and we said no more diapers. You had quite a few accidents the first day, but by Sunday, you got it! I think your body was ready and it was just time to make it happen. You were very proud of yourself! And daddy and I were very proud of you too!
You still have your “toddler moments” where you scream and throw yourself on the floor, but they are definitely happening less and less frequently. I think as your language skills grow, it makes it much easier for you to communicate when you are frustrated or angry. And boy have your language skills grown! You love to talk… and talk… and talk! Hahaha! And you always have something interesting to say! You have an amazing imagination and love to tell us stories. Sometimes you tell us the plotlines of shows or movies that you’ve watched, and other times you make things up on the spot. You’re very into superheroes right now, which is why we had a Superhero theme for your birthday party which we finally had last weekend (just a few weeks past your actual b-day! sorry!). But I think it was worth the wait. You can be sure that the party would not have been nearly as cool or fun had it happened in the middle of our moving! 😉
In just a couple weeks, you’ll be starting your very first year of pre-school! Eeek! I’m so nervous for you. The good news is that you’ll be in the same classroom as Emily this year (who’s going into Kindergarten – what?!)! This is probably the only time that this will happen in your life. I feel pretty darn lucky that we can send you to MCH. I worry a little about how well you will handle going to school. You still have a bit of a hard time controlling that temper and I know you will encounter many frustrations as you get used to the school routine and interacting with the other children and teachers. I’ve had a little reassurance over the past few weeks as I’ve watched you during your swim lessons at the Y. The first lesson, you wanted nothing to do with anything or anyone. But each week got easier for you and now, you pay attention, listen to the instructor, and have fun! So I think you’ll be just fine when you get into school. You are very excited and I can’t wait to see you grow and learn and experience new things this year!
Big hugs to my bugaboo!
