Some friends and I are writing letters to our children in a monthly blog circle! After you read mine, click here to check out my friend Michelle’s letter next. If you click through each letter, you’ll eventually find yourself right back here!
Happy 5th Birthday!!! I can’t believe 5 years has flown by since you were born! What an amazing ride it has been so far. I have a theory that the nature of your child’s birth is a harbinger of what’s to come. So far that’s been true of you and your brother. First of all, you were born a week after your due date and I’m sure you will have trouble being on time for everything throughout much of your life. Getting ready for school in the morning has become increasingly more difficult. You are a born lollygagger! 🙂
On the day that I was supposed to be induced, you decided you were finally ready to enter the world. Apparently it had to be on your terms and no one was going to force you to do anything! You certainly maintain that independent, in-charge attitude to this day. But you also took it easy on your poor ol’ mom. Your birth was a fairly easy ordeal for me. I hardly felt any pain. It was a lot of hard work (much more than I ever expected!) but I never even felt one major contraction. There were no surprises; everything happened just as it was supposed to. When I look at you now, I know I’ve got it easy! You have such an easy-going spirit. You’re happy 90% of the time and you’re a pretty good listener, all things considered.
Being your mom is fun! Your bubbly personality is infectious. I dare anyone to hear you laugh and not smile along with you. I admit that I miss those days after you were born when you were so tiny and cuddly. Daddy and I were your entire world and that felt so nice. But I wouldn’t pass up these days either. Watching you grow and change is nothing short of a miracle. This year you will start Kindergarten – what a milestone! I can’t wait to see all that this year has in store for you and all that you have in store for us!
Happy birthday my sweet girl!
